Hereford Insurance – Leaders in Loss Control
Hereford Insurance’s Loss Control Program is designed to facilitate participating radio groups in the development and maintenance of a vibrant and productive loss control program for their affiliated drivers.
The goal of our loss control program is to promote the safety of our insured’s and their passengers. Consequently the program focuses on the following areas:
Reviewing the existing driver safety programs of our affiliated radio groups.
Reviewing insureds claims history and provide driver training.
On site base consultations by Hereford’s Loss Control Coordinator.
Access to Loss Control videos and literature (specializing in stress management, road rage, drug and alcohol abuse, and defensive driving techniques).
All participating radio groups are provided with a copy of the Hereford Insurance Company Preventable Accident and Safety Guide (HIC-PAG) to facilitate them in reviewing accident prevention techniques with their affiliated drivers.
Bases are also provided with weekly safety updates that can be posted on their bulletin boards.
As an added benefit, Hereford Insurance conducts a monthly Defensive Driving Course (DDC) at our office located at 36-01 43rd Ave, Long Island City NY 11101, in the third floor event room. The class is recognized by the New York City TLC for the three year mandatory DDC, insurance carriers for discounted rates, and by the New York State DMV for point reduction. Best of all, the class is absolutely free for all Hereford Insurance insureds.
The implementation of the above features have proven beneficial to both our affiliated radio groups and their drivers, as we have seen a reduction in the severity of claims for loss control participants compared to non participants since the programs inception in March 2007.
Hereford Insurance holds an annual Loss Control Award Luncheon to recognize and honor those drivers that demonstrate the safe and responsible driving habits the loss control program promotes.
Hereford Insurance knows that our insureds depend on the NYC transportation industry to maintain their daily living. We are also aware that NYC traffic congestion coupled with the unsafe driving practices of some drivers increases the risks that are faced by our insureds and their passengers on a daily basis. Although the maintenance of a loss control program can not remove these dangers, it is our hope that it will better prepare our insureds to protect their passengers and themselves in potentially dangerous situations.
